Brave New Alaskan Voices 2011 Brave New Voices 2011 Hello All- Catered Blessings Dessert First is helping with 3 different fundraisers to benefit Diff3r3nt by D3sign/Silent Roar youth slam series efforts to take an Alaska Youth Slam Poetry team to compete in the 14th Annual Brave New Voices Competition in San Francisco...July 2011. Keep in mind that this is ground breaking because Alaska has never had a youth team before and of the 80 teams that apply to the competition the Brave New Alaskan Voices team was accepted!!!! So here is a brief description of what we want to do and how you can help. The first is the In it to win it...Dessert of the month Drawing. The donation is $5 per entry. The first drawing will take place April 1st with the last taking place March 1, 2012. Your entry will never be taken out even if you have won giving you at least 12 chances to win. The prize will vary monthly ranging from 3 dozen cookies to a whole cake, pie or cheesecake. You will get to pick when you want to collect your winnings as long as it falls within the month you won and is during the time and days that the Desset First cafe is open. (See Attached Flier) for further details. Second, Coffee for Charity...Buy a pound of our whole bean or ground coffee made by Alaska Coffee Company for $15 and all the proceeds will go towards the Brave New Alaskan Team. Trey Josey and Kima Hamilton are heading up this venture and have devoted a lot of time, energy and love. Brave New Alaskan Voices
(Alaska's First Ever Youth Slam Poetry Team)
DBD/Silent Roar is raising funds to take a youth slam poetry team to represent Alaska in the Brave New Voices Competition in 2011. This will be the first youth slam poetry team ever formed in Alaska. Funds are being raised to cover team entry fees, airfare, lodging and meal needs for 6 teens ages 13-19 and minimum of 2-3 chaperones/team leaders. 7 slam series determined how the team was chosen. Donations are needed for airfare. Donations can be made at the Dessert First Cafe located at 224 W. 34th Avenue or via paypal through the Palmer Arts Counsil website at www.thepalmerartscounsil.org or a check may be mailed into the Palmer Arts Counsil, PO Box 4286, Palmer, AK 99645 with the notation ..RE: Brave New Alaskan Voices. A donation receipt & letter will be mailed back to you. They are also looking for Campanion Fare Tickets if anyone is willing to donate those. Questions please call 907-929-2265.
