Brave New Alaskan Voices
(Alaska's First Ever Youth Slam Poetry Team)
DBD/Silent Roar is raising funds to take a youth slam poetry team to represent Alaska in the Brave New Voices Competition in 2012. Last years team went to San Francisco the location of the 2012 festival TBD. BNAV is the first ever youth slam poetry team formed in Alaska. Funds are being raised to cover team entry fees, airfare, lodging and meal needs for 6 teens ages 13-19 and minimum of 2-3 chaperones/team leaders. Donations are needed for airfare. Donations can be made at the Dessert First Cafe located at 224 W. 34th Avenue or via paypal through the Palmer Arts Counsil website at www.thepalmerartscounsil.org or a check may be mailed into the Palmer Arts Counsil, PO Box 4286, Palmer, AK 99645 with the notation ..RE: Brave New Alaskan Voices. A donation receipt & letter will be mailed back to you. They are also looking for Campanion Fare Tickets if anyone is willing to donate those. Questions please call 907-929-2265.
There will also be a silent auction coming in Spring of 2012. Food, entertaintment and lots of awesome items to bid on throughout the evening, if you would like to donate items for the auction to raise funds for the team please contact Tamara at 929-2265. Thank You.

Open Writers Circle & Mic Night
Host FreeThought is holding an Open Writers Circle that starts at 8 PM and Open Mic (open to poets, spoken word artist, vocalist, comedians, etc.) that starts at 9 PM every Saturday night at the Dessert First Cafe in the Dover Center located at 224 W. 34th Ave across from the Outback.
